The NC Division of Water Quality, the Upper Neuse River Basin Association, the Center for Watershed Protection, the NC State University Water Quality Group and the City and County of Durham are creating a watershed plan to restore Lick Creek in eastern Durham.

Lick Creek flows through the city and county into Falls Lake, where thousands of us fish, swim, and receive drinking water. As the number of people living in the watershed has grown, the creek has become degraded.

The project will:

  1. Help identify the possible sources of degradation,
  2. Create a plan for restoring health to the stream,
  3. Work with local experts and community members to implement the plan, and,
  4. Provide funding for implementing priority projects.
